The last date to link PAN
with Aadhaar has been extended by 6 months till September 30, 2019. Note that
from April 1, 2019, quoting Aadhar number made mandatory while filing income
tax return (ITR) unless specifically exempted. The Income Tax Department has
provided various options for linking of PAN to Aadhaar in order to facilitate
the taxpayers.
How to link Aadhaar Number to PAN Card?
You can link your PAN with Aadhaar
using the following methods.
1. Link Aadhaar to PAN
through SMS
2. Linking of PAN to Aadhaar
through online process
a) Without logging on income
tax e-filing website
b) Logging in to your account
on income tax e-filing website
3. Link Aadhaar to PAN
through offline process
4. Link PAN to Aadhaar through
Aaykar Setu App
How to check is your Aadhaar number linked to your PAN card?
After linking your PAN to Aadhaar,
you can also check that your PAN is linked to your Aadhaar or not. The IT
Department has made it easy for taxpayers to check that their PAN is linked with
Aadhaar or not. Following are the three different methods you can use to check
Aadhaar to PAN linkage.
Online Method
There are two different
options available online to check that your Aadhar card is linked to your PAN
or not.
First Option
In this option, you are not
required to log in or register on the e- filing website. This
option can be used by anyone to check their PAN to Aadhaar linkage.
1. Go to e-filing portal
https://www.incometaxindiaefilin...
2. Click on the “Link Aadhar”
on the left side of the page.
3. Enter your PAN number,
Aadhar Number, Name as per Aadhar, captcha Code.
4. Click on the “Link Aadhar”
button.
5. If you it is already
linked to your PAN then you will get a message “Your PAN is linked to Aadhar
Number …………”
Second Option
1. Go to the e-filing portal
https://www.incometaxindiaefilin...
2. If you are a registered
user, log in using your ID and password.
3. Click on “Profile
Setting”.
3. Click on the “Link Aadhar”
button.
4. If it is already linked
to you PAN then you will get a message “Your PAN is linked to Aadhar Number
………”
Through SMS
You can also check that your
Aadhar card is linked to your PAN or not by sending an SMS. Just send an SMS to
567678 or 56161 from your registered mobile number in the below-mentioned
format.
SMS format
UIDPAN<SPACE><12
digit Aadhar card number><Space><10 digit PAN card number>
Now send SMS to 567678 or
56161
If it is already linked then
you will get a message as “Aadhar {XXXXXXXX----} is
already associated with PAN {XXXXX-----} in ITD Database. Thank you for using
our Services” – NSDLDP. Below is the screenshot of the message.
