With Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana, the government is taking healthcare protection to a new aspirational level. Ayushman Bharat Scheme is new initiative under National Health Protection Mission. Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana is implemented under the vision of Ayushman Bharat so that each and every citizen receives his due share of health care. With the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Scheme, the central government offers financial assistance for common people. It is a good step towards providing better medical facilities to the poor people of India.

Key features and benefits of Ayushman Bharat Scheme - Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) are given below.
1. Ayushman Bharat Yojana is the world’s largest government funded healthcare program.
2. Government provides health insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakh per year per family.
3. The Ayushman Bharat Scheme provides health insurance to more than 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) across the country.
4. All members of families listed in the SECC database as per defined criteria are automatically covered. No restriction on number of family members and age of members.
5. The scheme is entitlement based. No formal enrolment process is required.
6. Priority will be given to girl child, women and senior citizens.
7. You will get free treatment at public hospitals and empanelled private hospitals across the country in times of need.
8. The scheme will covers secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.
9. PMJAY provides cashless and paperless access to quality health care services for the beneficiary at the point of service.
10. 1,350 medical packages are included in this scheme covering surgery, medical and day care treatments, cost of medicines and diagnostics.
11. All pre-existing diseases are covered from day one of the policy. Hospitals cannot deny treatment.
12. Hospitals will not charge any additional money from beneficiaries for the treatment.
13. Eligible beneficiaries can avail services across the country, offering benefit of national portability.
14. All empanelled hospital will have “Ayushman Mitra Help Desk” for assistance.
15. You need to carry any prescribed ID to receive treatment at the hospital.

Eligibility of Ayushman Bharat Scheme

PMJAY will be offered to poor, deprived rural families and identified occupational category of urban workers’ families as per data collected under Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011, both rural and urban. There is no restriction on family size and age of members. The scheme is entitlement based. No formal enrolment process is required. You are required to carry any prescribed Id to receive treatment at the hospital.

The categories in rural and urban areas that are covered under PMJAY are given as follows:
For Rural
1. Households with only one room with kucha walls and kucha roof.
2. Household with no adult member between age 16 to 59.
3. Household with disabled member and no able-bodied adult member.
4. Female headed households with no adult male member between age 16 to 59.
5. Landless households deriving income from manual casual labour.
6. SC/ST households
7. Households without shelter
8. Primitive tribal groups
9. Destitute/ living on alms
10. Manual scavenger families
11. Legally released bonded labour

For Urban
1. Rag picker
2. Domestic worker
3. Beggar
4. Cobbler / hawker / Street vendor/ Other service provider working on streets
5. Coolie and another head-load worker
6. Construction worker / Plumber / Mason / Labour / Painter / Welder / Security guard
7. Tailor / Home-based worker / Handicrafts worker / Artisan
8. Sweeper/ Sanitation worker / Mali
9. Transport worker/ Driver/ Conductor / Helper to drivers and conductors / Cart puller / Rickshaw puller
10. Electrician / Mechanic / Assembler / Repair worker
11. Shop worker / Assistant / Peon in small establishment / Helper / Delivery assistant / Attendant / Waiter

How to check eligibility for Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)?

Online process

Follow the step by step process given below to check your eligibility for Ayushman Bharat Yojana – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) online.
2. Here you need to enter your active mobile number (to receive an OTP) and enter the Captcha code and click on the “Generate OTP” tab. You will receive an OTP. Enter the OTP and click on “Verify OTP” tab which directs to a page to enter the details for search.
3. On this page, you can search whether you are eligible beneficiary for PMJAY using
(a) Mobile number / Ration Card Number collected during Additional Data Collection Drive.
(b) SECC Name or
(c) RSBY URN

Mobile number/Ration Card Number
 An Additional Data Collection Drive was conducted on  April 30, 2018 at Gram Sabha’s across the country to capture active mobile number and ration card number of a family of the SECC database. If you got your Mobile number or Ration card number captured during this drive, only then it will show results. If you got your details captured during the ADCD drive and still no results are displayed, then the “SECC Name” option should be used for searching.

SECC Name
You can search if you are eligible for PMJAY using your details as per the SECC database such as Name, Father’s Name, Gender, State etc. Even now, if no results are displayed, then you should contact a nearby Ayushman Mitra.

RSBY URN
All active families that are enrolled under RSBY till March 31, 2018 that do not feature in the targeted groups as per SECC data will be included as well and can identify if they are eligible for Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) using RSBY URN.
4. If the search is successful, you have an option to receive a text message with the HHID number/RSBY URN for future purposes on your phone by clicking the “Get SMS” button and entering the mobile number. Note that this mobile number can be different from the mobile number used in the first step for OTP Generation.




Offline process

You can also check your eligibility for Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) by using offline method. You need to call helpline number at 14555 to know your eligibility.
