Now it is mandatory to link Aadhaar with mobile number of all operators along with Fingerprint Biometric Verification. Recently, The Department of Telecommunication (DOT) has instructed all Indian telecom operators to re-verify all existing customers including prepaid and postpaid subscribers by March 31, 2018.

As per DOT, now it is compulsory for all users to link Aadhaar with mobile number or SIM card to keep the mobile number active. Telecom operators have already started sending SMS to their customers, asking them to link Aadhaar with mobile number within the specified deadline. The last date to link Aadhaar with mobile number is March 31, 2018. In this article, I will explain everything about “How to link Aadhaar with mobile number”.

Documents required for linking Aadhaar with mobile number

1. A copy of the Aadhaar card of SIM card owner.

2. A mobile with an active SIM card.

How to link Aadhaar with Mobile Number?

The stepwise process to link Aadhaar with mobile number is given below.

1. Visit your nearest retail store of your respective telecom operator.

2. Provide your mobile number and Aadhaar card details to the retail store executive.

3. You will now receive a four digits verification code on your mobile number for the verification process.

4. Provide that verification code to the retail store executive.

5. Now the retail store executive will ask for your fingerprint for biometric verification.

6. You will receive a confirmation SMS within 24 hours on your mobile number.

7. Reply SMS as per the instructions from your respective telecom operator to complete the verification process.

8. Now your Aadhaar has been successfully linked with your mobile number.

What is the fee for this process?

Currently, there is no fee for linking Aadhaar with mobile number.

Notable Points

1. The owner of the connection will need to visit the retail store of the respective telecom operator.

2. Aadhaar number and active SIM card are required to complete the re-verification process.

3. The SIM card needs to be active and inserted in a working handset.

4. OTP needs to be shared with the store executive for processing the re-verification.

5. Your fingerprint will be scanned to complete the Aadhaar number verification.

6. The last date to link Aadhaar with mobile number is February 6, 2018.

7. In case you do not link your Aadhaar with mobile number before February 6, 2018, services on your mobile number might get restricted.

8. If you have multiple mobile numbers, then biometric verification is required separately for each mobile number.
