How to block HDFC Debit Card?

HDFC Bank is a leading retail bank in India. It provides a wide range of financial products using multiple distribution channels, including a pan-India network of branches, ATMs, phone banking, net banking and mobile banking. HDFC bank provides its customers debit cards/ATM cards. There might be some circumstances (like lost, stolen, misplaced or some other reason) when you need to block HDFC debit card/ATM card. HDFC Bank has the facility of blocking your debit card/ATM card. It provides three different ways to block HDFC debit card/ATM card if it is lost or stolen.

Block HDFC debit card online via Net Banking

If you are a registered user of HDFC Net Banking facility, you can block HDFC debit card online via net banking. The step by step process to block HDFC debit card is given below.

1. Visit HDFC bank Net Banking website: HDFC Net Banking
2. Login to your net banking account using your user Id and password.

3. Click on “Cards” option from the top menu.

4. Click on “Request” under “Debit Cards” section in the left-hand sidebar.

5. Click on “Debit Card Hotlisting” under “Request” option.

6. Here you can the list of debit cards that are linked to your HDFC bank account.

7. Select the debit card you wish to block from the list.

8. Next screen, select the reason for hotlisting your HDFC debit card

9. Put the remarks and click on confirm.

10 You will receive the confirmation that your HDFC debit has been blocked.

Block HDFC debit card by phone call

You can also block HDFC debit card by calling HDFC Phone Banking. After asking few details for verification they will block HDFC debit card. Reporting loss of your debit card is available 24 hours on all days including Sundays and Holidays. Just call the Phone Banking number in your location. Block HDFC debit card by visiting HDFC bank branch

You can also block HDFC debit card by visiting HDFC bank branch. Just fill a request form for hotlisting of debit card and submit to the bank executive.

Notable Points

1. Please note that once your HDFC debit card is blocked then no transactions would be done using your HDFC debit card.

2. Reporting loss of your HDFC debit card is available 24 hours on all days including Sundays and Holidays.

3. If your PAN card details are not updated with your HDFC bank account then your online request shall not be processed. If you do not have a PAN card then you have to visit the nearest HDFC bank branch.

4. Please also note that once your HDFC debit card is reported lost/stolen/damaged, and the same has been hot-listed, the card cannot be used again, even if found subsequently.
