EPF Passbook Download Facility – New Portal

Once upon a time, it was a tedious work to check EPF balance. You need to wait till the time, the printed statement slips of EPF was given by your employer/HR department. However, in the last few years, EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) has made several changes in its process to help EPF subscribers to check their EPF balance or download EPF passbook. Now members with activated UANs (Universal Account Numbers) can check their EPF balance, download their EPF passbook and withdraw their EPF using online facility. A new portal for downloading EPF Passbook is recently launched with improved speed. The step by step procedure for downloading your EPF passbook is given below.

What is UAN

UAN stands for Universal Account Number and is a 12 digit unique number given by EPFO to its members. UAN enables linking of multiple EPF Accounts (Member Id) allotted to a single member. This UAN number remains same even with the change of the job. If you don’t have your UAN number, contact your employer. Once you activate your UAN then you can avail the benefits of UAN. Using your UAN, you can easily check your EPF balance or other details of your EPF account.

How to Download EPF Passbook

Below is the step by step procedure for downloading your EPF passbook.
1. Go to the EPFO portal http://www.epfindia.com/site_en/

2. Click on the link “e-Passbook” at the top right corner of the page.

3. You will be directed to a new page.

4. Enter your UAN number in the “User Name” field.

5. Enter your password and Captcha code in the space provided.

6. Click on “Login” button.

7. On successful login, once again you will be directed to a new page.

8. Now you will be able to see your Member ID box.

7. Click on the box below “Select MEMBER ID to View PassBook”.

8. It will open your EPF passbook on the right-hand side of the page.

9. You can check all the details/entries in your EPF passbook.

10. If you want you can download or take a print of your EPF passbook for future use.

Notable Points:

1. This facility is only for the members registered on the Unified Member Portal to view the Member Passbook. If you are not a registered member then you need to visit Unified Member Portal (https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/) to activate your UAN number.

2. EPF passbook will be available after 6 Hours of registration at Unified Member Portal.

3. Any changes in the credentials at Unified Member Portal will be effective at this new portal after 6 Hours.

4. EPF passbook will have all the entries which have been reconciled at the EPFO field offices.

5. EPF passbook download facility is not available for the Exempted Establishments Members / Settled Members / InOperative Members.

EPF Passbook through EPFO Mobile App

You can also view your EPF passbook through EPFO Mobile App “m-epf”. Below are the steps to check your EPF passbook through EPFO Mobile App.

1. Download the EPFO Mobile App “m-epf”.

2. Open the “m-epf” App.

3. Click on “member” button.

4. A new screen will open.

5. Click on Balance/Passbook and again a new screen will open.

6. Enter your UAN number and Mobile number.

7. Click on “SHOW” button.

8. Now it will show your EPF account details.

9. Click on “View Passbook” button.

10. Now you can view your EPF passbook.
