How to get your UAN number of EPF through PF number?

Every individual who contributes to the EPF account must know his/her UAN. If you do not know yours then act immediately to find out your Universal Account Number. All the services of EPFO like EPF balance check, EPF transfer, EPF withdrawal, PF passbook download, etc. are linked to Universal Account Number. You can access, check and withdraw your provident fund from your EPF account using it without any interference from your employer.

The process of getting your UAN online through the PF number is very easy and simple. Below is the step-by-step guide to know your Universal Account Number online.

What is UAN?

UAN stands for Universal Account Number. It is a 12 digit unique number allotted by EPFO to its members. It is generated for each of the PF (Provident Fund) at EPFO. No two EPF member can have the same UAN. This remains the same even with the change of the job.

Because of this, you can easily transfer your EPF balance when you change your job. To avail the benefits of the UAN, you have to activate it. This activation is done through the EPFO member portal. After activation, you can easily check your EPF balance or download your PF passbook online through member portal.

How to get your UAN number of EPF through PF number?

In the normal course, ask your employer for it. The employer should give it to every employee. Most of the employers use to print it in salary slips.

However if your employer does not provide it to you, you can get it through the member portal using your member Id.

Information needed to get your UAN number

Following information required to get your UAN through the UAN portal

1. PF (Provident Fund) number – Generally mentioned in the salary slip or you can get it from your HR department.

2. Name – as per your PF records.

3. Date of birth – As in the record of the EPFO.

4. Mobile – You should have mobile as PIN will be sent on the given mobile.

5. Email Id (Optional).

Procedure to get UAN through PF number

1. Go to the EPFO member portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

2. Click on the link “Know your UAN status” option under the “Important Links” section.

3. It will take you to a new page.

4. Here, select your state and EPFO office from the drop-down menu.

5. Now fill the PF member Id, name, date of birth, mobile, email id and the captcha code in the given columns. Your EPF member Id is printed on your salary slip.

6. Once you enter all the details, click on the “Get Authorization Pin” button.

7. Once you click on “Get Authorization Pin” button you will receive a PIN at your mobile.

8. Enter the PIN and click on “Validate OTP and get UAN” button.

9. Your UAN will be sent to your Mobile.

10. Now you will receive a message as below on your mobile.

Using this facility of EPFO, you can also know your UAN through your Aadhaar and PAN. Just choose the option of Aadhaar or PAN in place of Member Id.
